Obituary: Douglas C. Dennis, 53, Cox’s Creek

Douglas C. Dennis, 53, of Cox’s Creek, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born Jan. 25, 1964, in Bardstown to Paul and Thelma Hartman Dennis. He was a diesel mechanic for Waddy Truck Stop and was a member of the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Dennis.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Beavers Dennis, seven children, Jessica (Paul, Jr.) Culver, Jason Scott McCubbins, J. D. McCubbins, and Tara Montgomery, all of Bardstown, Amanda Montgomery (Michael) Spalding of Hodgenville, Nikki (Chris) St. Clair and Bo Montgomery, both of Bardstown; his mother, Thelma Hartman Dennis of Bardstown; four sisters, Vicki Eberle of Louisville, Rebecca (Greg) Brothers of Bardstown, Paula (Terry) Simpson of Cox’s Creek, and Elaine (Allen) Downs of Boston; four brothers, Paul Wayne (Donna) Dennis of Mount Washington, Ricky Lucas of Boston, and Ronnie (Sandy) Lucas and Ross (Trudy) Dennis, both of Cox’s Creek; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Rogers officiating. Burial is in the First Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, is in charge of arrangements.
