Obituary: Ronald Lee Strange, 78, Bardstown

RONALD LEE STRANGE

Ronald Lee Strange, 78, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. He died like he lived, in the presence of God, surrounded by his family. God and family were foremost in his life. He was born Nov. 4, 1939, in Chaplin to the late Orville and Mattie Curtsinger Strange. He earned his Rank 1 from Eastern Kentucky University and was a retired teacher for the Nelson County Board of Education, having taught at Old Kentucky Home Middle School and Nelson County High School. He was a member of the Kentucky and Nelson County Retired Teachers Association, a former member and deacon at Bardstown Baptist Church. He was a charter member of Parkway Baptist Church and a member of Dr. Jacob Vincent’s Harmony Sunday School Class. He was always the gentleman, ever wanting to accommodate others.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy Hupp Strange; two daughters, Nancy (Jeff) McCoy of Union and Janet Strange of Bardstown; one son, Ryan (Nicole) Strange of Lexington; one sister, Myra (Bill) Thomas of LaGrange; and four grandchildren, Dr. Sean K. (Angela) McCoy, Evan M. Koons, Bryce A. McCoy and Seth B. McCoy.

The funeral is 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Rd., with Dr. James Carroll officiating. Burial is in the Highview Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017.

The family requests expressions of sympathy to take the form of contributions to the Gideons International or Parkway Baptist Church.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
