Obituary: William Nichols ‘Bill’ Thompson Sr., 90, Bloomfield
William Nichols “Bill” Thompson Sr., 90, of Bloomfield, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Bardstown Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 26, 1927, in Chaplin to the late Charles William and Edna Carey Thompson. He was a retired truck driver for Barton Brands, a former member of the Bloomfield City Council, having served from 1992-2002, a Kentucky Colonel, member of the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge #57 F&AM, and a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Lil Harrell Thompson; one daughter, Ellen (Jimmy) Napier of Lexington, one son, Billy (Susan) Thompson of Mount Washington; one brother, Forrest T. (Evelyn) Thompson of Fresno, Calif.; one granddaughter, Heather (Michael) Waddell of Nashville; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Richard Carwile, Bro. Nick Bateman and Dr. Matt Thompson officiating. Burial is in the Highview Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017,, at the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Bloomfield Baptist Church Building Fund.
The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
