Community chamber orchestra free holiday concert set for Saturday, Dec. 9

Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 — “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” is the theme for the Holiday Concert of the Bardstown Community Chamber Orchestra presented 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 211 North Third St. in Bardstown.

Compositions by composers such as Dvorak, Mozart and Chopin will highlight the first part of the concert. A clarinet and piano duet of “Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata” will be presented by Cindy Lemons and Hobie Humphrey.

The second part of the concert will be devoted to holiday favorites and Christmas carols. A jazz duet arrangement of the African-American spiritual, “Go, Tell It on the Mountain,” will feature Evy Scheen and Humphrey.

Concert attendees will be afforded an opportunity to sing-along with the orchestra on many of the selections. The sing-along was initiated three years ago and has been a favorite inclusion to the concert repertoire.

There is no admission charged. Donations are welcomed.
