Obituary: Joseph Marvin Mattingly, 83, Bardstown
Joseph Marvin Mattingly, 83, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at Bardstown Health and Rehab. He was born Nov. 7, 1934, in Springfield. He was a butcher for A & P and Foodland, a 1952 graduate of St. Joseph Prep School, PTO President for St. Joseph Elementary School, and a member of St. Joseph Men’s Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Korea from 1956-58. He enjoyed world travel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. and Mary Mattingly; his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Mattingly; and one sister, Letty Yates.
He is survived by five children, T. Scott Mattingly (Mary) of Bardstown, Michael K. Mattingly, Julia M. Mattingly and Janet K. Mattingly, both of Portland, Ore., and Anthony C. Mattingly of Seattle, Wash.; and one granddaughter, Laura K. Mattingly of Bardstown.
The memorial prayer service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating. Burial is in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at the funeral home with a prayer service 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church.
The Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
