Obituary: Joseph Earl Wheatley, 87, Springfield

Joseph Earl Wheatley, 87, of Bearwallow Road, Springfield, died Saturday at University Hospital in Louisville.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Luckett Wheatley; five daughters, Pam “Steve” Hill, Mary Jo “Gene” Nalley and Fran “Scott” Thompson, all of Bardstown, Angela “Ricky” Elder of Cincinnati and Marsha “Wayne” Mattingly of Celina, Texas; two sons, Kevin Wheatley of Lawrenceburg and Mark Wheatley of Springfield; five sisters, Christine Blandford, Charlotte “Helem” Lewis and Nancy Elder, all of Louisville, Lucy “Kenny” Hamilton and Marilyn “Jimmy Howard” Fenwick, both of Springfield; one brother, John R. Wheatley of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fredericktown with burial in St. Rose Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, and 7-9 a.m. Thursday at the Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
