Bardstown firefighters respond for machinery fire at NPR

Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, 11:45 p.m. — Manufacturing was interrupted at a Bardstown piston ring factory Monday night when a fire broke out in a machinery room.
At about 10:48 p.m., the Bardstown Fire Department responded for a reported machinery fire at NPR Manufacturing, 680 Wilson Parkway. The building was evacuated by the time firefighters arrived, who reported seeing heavy smoke showing from the rear of the building in the vicinity of anhydrous ammonia tanks.
Firefighters reported they had control of the fire at 11:12 p.m. Nelson County EMS and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office responded as well. EMS provided assistance to a firefighter at the scene.
Firefighters were still at the scene at 11:45 p.m. Monday night. If driving in the area, be aware of possible emergency vehicles still in the area.
