Obituary: Robert ‘Bobby’ Shropshire, 77, Bardstown
Robert “Bobby” Shropshire, 77, of Bardstown, died peacefully Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born Oct. 18, 1940, in Lenore to the late John Allan and Louise Bell Shropshire. He was part owner and operator of the former Maxine’s Restaurant for 40 years. He was also a member of New Salem Baptist Church, American Legion Post 121 and Moose Lodge #2408. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his lifelong companion Maxine Graham; one sister, Janette (Carl) Beagle; one brother James A. “Jimmy” (Peggy) Shropshire; and two nieces, Lynne Burns and Sharon Northup.
He is survived by two nieces Lori (Gordy) Thomas of Mount Washington and Mitzy (Marc) Kaiser of Shepherdsville; two nephews, Mitch (Sherry) Shropshire of Shepherdsville and Doug (Joanie) Rutledge of Tennessee; a special friend, Irma Livers of Bardstown; two special great-nieces, Sallie Kaiser and MacKenzie Kaiser, both of Shepherdsville; several great-nieces and nephews; and a host of long time friends.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, and after 8:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions have been requested to the Moose Lodge #2408 and American Legion Post 121.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
