Obituary: Bobby E. Settles, 83, Bardstown

BOBBY E. SETTLES

Bobby E. Settles, 83, of Bardstown, formerly of Springfield, died at 4:44 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at the Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was a native of Washington County born on April 24, 1934, to the late Oliver and Mattie Belle Coulter Settles. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, a 1959 graduate of Mackville High School; a U.S. Army veteran who was also with the National Guard. He was a retired employee of Angel Manufacturing in Lebanon and a retired security guard of Toyotomi of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald W. Settles on July 4, 1971, and Danny W. Settles on September 15, 2013.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Gordon Settles; two daughters, Kathy Nevius (Darrell) and Karen Sallee, both of Bardstown; one brother, Melvin Settles (Inelle) of Springfield; three grandchildren, Amanda Abell (Adam), Beth Ann Afable (Kit) and Scott Sallee; two great-grandchildren, Bella Abell and Cooper Abell.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield with Dr. James Carroll officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bryan Wittekind. Burial is in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Sallee, Bill Gordon, Brian Settles, Troy Settles, Brad Settles and Randy Settles.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.

The Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
