Obituary: Charles Paul Gartland, 79, Bardstown

CHARLES PAUL GARTLAND

Charles Paul Gartland, 79, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at Baptist East Hospital. He was born in Cox’s Creek to the late Stanley Gartland and Beatrice Lewis Gartland. He was retired from Inland Container Corporation and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Greenwell (John) and Betty Schlaefer (Olin); one brother, brother Stanley Gartland Jr.; and one son, Paul Douglas Gartland.

He is survived by two daughters, Lucy Gartland Elkins (Randy) and Julie Gartland Janes; one son, Charlie Gartland; two brothers, Keith Gartland (Cathy) and Frank Gartland (Jeanne); two granddaughters, Morgan Janes and Caroline Janes; and two grandsons, Zach Elkins and Jake Elkins.

The graveside service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at St. Joseph Cemetary in Bardstown with a Celebration of Life at Bardstown Baptist Church immediately following until 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project or to a military charity of the donor’s choice.
