Obituary: Burnice Leon McKinney, 71, Cox’s Creek

Burnice Leon McKinney, 71, of Cox’s Creek, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, at his residence. He was born June 6, 1946, in Spencer County to the late W.E. and Mary Elizabeth Stevens McKinney. He was a farmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cliddie McKinney.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Thompson McKinney; two daughters, Lori (Steve) Bunch of Cox’s Creek and Lisa Lewis of Jeffersontown; one son, Michael McKinney of Bardstown; four sisters, Jean Mobley, Annie Whitaker, Gracie (Arthur Ray) Cook, all of Taylorsville, and Bonnie (Larry) Runner of Louisville; two brothers, Elwood (Mary Ruble) McKinney of Lawrenceburg and William (Mary) McKinney of Taylorsville; and two grandchildren, Clayton Lewis and Kasey Lewis.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Wakefield Baptist Church. with Bro. Tom Sparrow officiating. Burial is in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at the church.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
