Obituary: James C. ‘Jim’ O’Bryan, 39, Bardstown

James C. “Jim” O’Bryan, 39, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his children and family after battling cancer. He was born Nov. 5, 1978, in Bardstown. He was a mason and millwright.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Helton Wayne; one brother, Brandon Tyler Wayne; his maternal grandparents, Jefferson “Red” and Mary Helton; and his paternal grandmother, Ruby Faulkner O’Bryan.

He is survived by one daughter, Caitlin O’Bryan of Boston; two sons, Cameron O’Bryan and Izaac O’Bryan both of Bardstown; his father, Edward William O’Bryan of Lebanon, his stepfather, Bruce Allan Wayne of Bardstown; his grandfather, Charles Aloysius O’Bryan of Elizabethtown; three siblings, Kelly O’Bryan and Brooke Smoak, both of Bardstown, and Ricci (Ben) Hurst of Elizabethtown; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A memorial graveside service will be announced at a later date.

Visitation is 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home with the rosary at 5:30 p.m. and a Christian service at 6 p.m. Pastor Mark Jones will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the family in care of the funeral home.

Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown is in charge of arrangements.
