Obituary: William M. ‘Bill’ Medley Jr., 83, Springfield

William M. “Bill” Medley Jr., 83, of Cissellville Road, Springfield, died at 2:50 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at Bardstown Health & Rehab Center. He was a native of Washington County and born Feb. 11, 1934, to the late William Marvin and Dorothy Edelen Medley. He was a lifelong member of St. Rose Catholic Church, a 1952 graduate of Fredericktown High School, a retired employee of the General Electric Company and retired postal clerk of the Springfield Post Office. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Campbell (Sept. 25, 2016).

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Rasche Medley; three daughters, Cheryl Campbell (John) of Louisville, Mary Ann Schnieders (Larry) of Eastlake, Ohio, and Susan Maples (Sam) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two sons, Michael Medley (Donna) and Mark Medley of Springfield; one sister, Pat Moore of Louisville; two brothers, Dave Medley of Mount Washington and Jim Medley (Betty) of Springfield; 10 grandchildren, Richard Medley, Dale Medley, Shelley Medley, Phillip Campbell, Patrick Schnieders, Matthew Schnieders, Savannah Maples, Scarlett Maples, Sylvia Maples and Spencer Maples; and two great-grandchildren, John Thomas Medley and Ann Leighton Medley.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at the St. Rose Catholic Church with the Rev. Kevin McGrath officiating. Burial will be in the St. Rose Cemetery.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield, with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Washington County Relay For Life.

The Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
