Obituary: Minnie Pearl Maddox Brown, 89, Taylorsville

Minnie Pearl Maddox Brown, 89, of Taylorsville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Signature Healthcare of Spencer County. She was born in Nelson County on Jan. 6, 1928, the daughter of the late David Ernest and Clara Rogers Maddox, the devoted wife and widow of William Thomas Brown, and a loving mother to children, Arnold Lee Brown and Peggy Annette Raisor.

She was a hard worker at home keeping house for her family and raising a huge garden, working as an Avon representative for many years, and retiring from the Kentucky State Department of Human Resources. Upon retirement, she was made a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels in recognition of her years of faithful service.

One of her greatest joys in life was her flowers. She had the greenest of thumbs and spent many happy hours tending to her beloved plants. Masterful in the kitchen, she could fry chicken that would shame the Colonel, make the best potato salad in the world, and fry squash better than anyone.

She was a longtime and faithful member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church at Waterford, she taught both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School there for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; two children, Roger Allen and Jennifer Lorraine; her sisters, Margie Bishop (Herman), Louise Bishop (Tom), and Darvil Washburn (Charles); her brothers, William Maddox, Clifford Maddox, Elwood Maddox, and her twin brother, Henry Maddox; and two nephews.

Survivors include one daughter, Annette Raisor (Mike) of Mount Washington; one son, Arnold Brown (Melissa) of Taylorsville; two sisters, Verlie Shouse (Kenneth) and Betty Martin (B.F.), both of Taylorsville; one sister-in-law, Lula Maddox of Taylorsville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Brown (Jamie), Derrick Raisor, Corey Raisor (Rebecca), and Whitney Boles (Hank); four great-grandchildren, Claire Raisor, Henry Raisor, Anthony Albert, and Cooper Albert; 17 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral was 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at the Plum Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jon Rohr officiating. Burail was in the Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville.

Visitation will be from 2:00 P. M., until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville, and after 10:00 A.M., Friday, at the Church.
