Obituary: Stephen Kyle Shain, 54, New Haven

Stephen Kyle Shain, 54, of New Haven, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at his residence. He was born July 16, 1963, in Bardstown. He was an employee of Toytomi American Corporation, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. He was a loving father, devoted son, doting grandfather, a great brother, uncle, and an avid University of Kentucky fan. He loved to raise a garden, fish, grill and was a workaholic.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Shain; one brother, Joseph Shain; and grandparents, Alfred and Mildred Shain, and Paul and Delia Cecil.

He is survived by one daughter, Brittany Shain (Oscar Robles) of Bardstown; one son, Andrew (Kelly) Shain of Rineyville; his mother, Norma Cecil Shain of New Haven; six sisters, Doris (Mike) Brammer, Rose (Jamie) Blair, and Sharon (James) Fultz, all of Bardstown, Donna Shain of LaMonte, Md., Mary (Carl) Clark of New Haven, and Teresa (Dan) Walls of Springfield; four brothers, Ralph (Nancy) Shain of Louisville, Dennis (Anne) Shain of Perryville, Kenneth Shain of New Haven and Paul (Kim) Shain of Bardstown; and five grandchildren, Angel Williams, Zachery K. Ortiz, Caleb Shain, Liam Shain and Noah Shain.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. Jason Harris officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 and 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. prayer service Tuesday.

The Houghlin Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, is in charge of arrangements.
