STAFF REPORT
Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 — Nelson Fiscal Court approved the purchase of a new ambulance at a special meeting Tuesday morning.
The special meeting was necessary after last week’s weather forced the cancellation of the regularly scheduled fiscal court meeting Tuesday, Jan. 16.
EMS Director Joe Prewitt presented the magistrates with a total bid package of approximately $122,000 for a fully equipped ambulance manufactured by the Taylor Made Ambulance Co. of Newport, Ark.
The county had budgeted spending up to $160,000 on a new ambulance this fiscal year, according to Judge Executive Dean Watts. Prewitt visited the Taylor Made facility and inspected their products prior to recommending the purchase from the company.
SNOW AND SALT. The court reviewed the county road department’s recent work to clear county roads after last week’s snow and ice event. The county used approximately $40,000 in salt and sand on county roads, and has placed an order for 600 tons of additional road salt.
In other business, the court:
— reappointed Mike Ballard and Ron Griffith to the Nelson County Board of Adjustments.
— reappointed Richard Nest to the Design Review Board.
— heard a reminder that the county’s Bulky Item Pickup begins feb. 26, 2018.
NEXT UP. Nelson Fiscal Court next meets 9 a.m. feb. 6, 2018.
