Obituary: David Leon Bennett, 79, Louisville

David Leon Bennett, 79, of Louisville, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Baptist Health in Louisville. He was born Feb. 16, 1938, in Spencer County to the late Carl Ross and Roberta Louise Herndon Bennett. He was a former employee of Armour Food Co. in Butchertown, a member of Taylorsville Church of God of Prophecy, and attended Highview Baptist Church in Louisville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Allen Bennett; two sisters, Lena Greer and Carrie Reed; and one brother, Carl Ross Bennett Jr.

He is survived by one son, Anthony Harland-Bennett of Goshen; three sisters, Katherine Bennett of Madisonville, and Karlene B. Nickell and Bonnie Klempner, both of Louisville; one brother, Robert Bruce Bennett of Louisville; one granddaughter, Amber Harland-Bennett of Goshen; and the mother of his sons, Judy Bennett of Louisville.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville with Bro. Mike Willingham officiating. Burial is in the Valley Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, and 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Friday.

The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements.
