Obituary: Elsie Marie Saxon Chance, 85, Bardstown

Elsie Marie Saxon Chance, 85, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at her residence. She was born June 17, 1932, in Alton, Ill. She lived most of her life in Washington County before moving to Bardstown. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Lucille Saxon; her companion of 32 years, Wesley Hill; her husband, Joseph L. Chance Sr.; one stepson, Joseph L. Chance Jr.; and two sisters, Helen Thomas and Edna Gilliam.

She is survived by five daughters, Rose (Offus) Lewis of Mackville, Pat Bowen of New Mexico, Frances Chance of Michigan, Joni Harrell of Bardstown, and Darlene Chance of Texas; two sons, Leon Chance of Mackville, and Larry (Margaret) Chance of Bardstown; one son-in-law, Roger Harrell; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Deep Creek Cemetery with Roger Harrell officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, and 9-11 a.m. Monday at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go towards funeral expenses.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
