Obituary: Wallace A. Reid, 91, of Glendale

Wallace A. Reid, 91, of Glendale, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Atria Assisted Living in Elizabethtown. He was born Nov. 22,1926, in Moreland. He was the first child born of William E. and Cora Lee Reid. He was a member of Glendale Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from his own tool and die business in Louisville.

He always began his mornings working crossword puzzles in the newspaper. He whistled constantly and loved to tell anyone who would listen to his latest jokes. He and his wife of 66 years loved to travel, and he could talk for hours about his adventures.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Reddix Reid; and one sister, Wilma Wise of Louisville.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry (Ed) Philpott of Glendale; two sisters, Lois Dewain of Louisville and Phyllis Kiper of Gallatin, Tenn.; one brother, Bill (Libby) Reid; one grandson, Erik Philpott of Glendale; two great-granddaughters, Autumn Philpott of Louisville and Laurel Philpott of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at the Glendale Christian Church with the Rev. Mike Bell and the Rev. Adam Hale officiating. Burial is in the Glendale Christian Church Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown and 9-11 a.m. Friday at the Glendale Christian Church.

The Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.
