Obituary: Joseph Louis Brey, 85, Howardstown
Joseph Louis Brey, 85, of Howardstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was a Catholic by faith and an Army veteran. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a retired employee of Owen-Illinois (formerly known as Lilly Tulip) with more than 31 years of service. He was born in Howardstown to the late John and Josephine Nalley Brey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Elizabeth Greenwell, Doris Clan, and Beulah Mae Devers; and one brother, John E. Brey.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Thornsberry Brey of Howardstown; two daughters, Aggie (David) Jinnett of Hodgenville and Gale (Billy) Neagle of Elizabethtown; three sons, Tony (Laura) Brey of Cox’s Creek, Mike (Donna) Brey of Howardstown, and Jack (Karen) Brey of Hodgenville; three sisters, Nancy Devers of Hodgenville, and Rita (Kenneth) Gibson of Magnolia, and Fredaline Clark of Bardstown; two brothers, Ramey (Jackie) Brey of White City and Kenneth (Carol) Brey of Clermont; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren with one on the way; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Howardstown with the Rev. Ken Fortener officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, with a 4 p.m. prayer service with Deacon Jim Cecil at the William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel, 612 N. Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville.
