Nelson County EMS and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 4000 block of Pottershop Road for a single vehicle injury accident at 7:47 a.m. Officers. According to police press release, a 1999 Cheverolet S10 pickup truck traveling eastbound ran off the right side of Pottershop Road and hit a line of trees.
The investigating officers found David Lydian, 37, of Bardstown, outside the heavily damaged pickup truck and on the ground across the road from the pickup truck.
Police determined the pickup truck Lydian was operating had been reported stolen from the Honeysuckle Lane area at 7:31 a.m., just minutes before police and EMS were dispatched to the truck crash.
According to police, the truck had been started up and was warming up at a residence on Honeysuckle when the owner came outside and discovered the truck was missing. Bardstown Police were called to investigate that apparent theft.
A sheriff’s office press release stated that officers determined Lydian had been consuming alcohol prior to the crash. Lydian faces a number of charges related to the incident.
