Obituary: Robert Leo Janes, 87, Bardstown

Robert Leo Janes, 87, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at his residence. He was born Feb. 8, 1930, in Washington County to the late Robert Herman and Vergie Keeling Janes. He was a former electrician for Tom Franke and Ed Howell. He was a member of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia Frances Janes; two sisters, Ruth Lucille Spalding and Mary Bernice Durbin; one brother, Freddy Earl Janes; and one half-brother, Jerry Clark.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Dale Mudd Janes; two daughters, Donna Janes (Barth) Spalding of Bardstown and Barbara Rose (Tom) Bruining of Michigan; two stepdaughters, Katherine Sue “Kitty” Janes of Louisville and Linda Louise Janes of Indiana; one half-brother, Gene (Theresa) Cammack of Boston; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at the Houghlin Greenwell Funeral Home.

The family requests memorial donations take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children Hospital.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
