Obituary: Joseph Gerald ‘Geralie’ ‘Jerry’ Bowling, 82
Joseph Gerald “Geralie” “Jerry” Bowling, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018. He was born Feb. 18, 1936, in New Hope, to the late Webb and Alice Dant Bowling. He was the ninth of 10 children. He was a graduate of St. Joe Prep in Bardstown and served in the U.S. Navy. After his service, he worked for Delta Airlines and later pursued ownership in the restaurant business. He was very proud that all three of his sons received their degrees from the University of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Cecilia Kirkpatrick; and two brothers, Corky Bowling and Bob Bowling.
Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Dawson Bowling; three sons, Michael Webster (Nicole) of Bogota, Colombia, Daniel Louis of Denver, Colo., and Matthew Dawson (Ana) of Telluride, Colo; four sisters, Frankie Mouser, Lottie Byrd, Joannie O’Bryan, and Allie Kirkpatrick; one sister-in-law, Martha Bowling; one brother-in-law, Ed “Sonny” Kirkpatrick; three grandchildren, Isabella, Mark, and Webb; two brothers, Wally Bowling and Jim Pat Bowling (Jean); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in New Hope, with burial in the St. Catherine Cemetery in New Haven.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., Louisville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor.
The Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., Louisville, is in charge of arrangements.
