Obituary: Earl Ray ‘Buddy’ Whitaker, 80, Taylorsville

Earl Ray “Buddy” Whitaker, 80, of Taylorsville, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born March 8, 1937, in Taylorsville to the late Earl Cleveland and Marguerite Hopewell Whitaker. He was a retired employee of General Electric, a member of the Taylorsville Community Church and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Harden and Gloria Sue Broughton; and ones brother, Gerald Whitaker.

He is survived by his wife, Kathie Rogers Whitaker; three daughters, Vanessa (Paul) Yates and Michelle (Ken) Rakentime, both of Taylorsville, and Tammy (Chris) White of Union; one stepdaughter, Felicia Ingram of Taylorsville; one stepson, Roger (Dana) Ingram of Taylorsville; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville with Bro. Chad Goodlett and Sister Mavis Bennett officiating. Burial is in the Valley Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at the funeral home.

The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements.
