Obituary: Thomas Durham Brown, 87, Lebanon
Thomas Durham Brown, 87, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at Cedars of Lebanon Nursing Home after an illness. He was born May 13, 1930 to the late James H. Brown Sr. and Elizabeth Durham Brown in Springfield. He was a member of The Church In Jesus’ Name, Apostolic Church in Columbia pastored by his son, Bishop Richard A. Brown.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Mae Brown; one son, Boyce Groves; one brother, James Henry Brown; three sisters, Isabelle Jones, Bertha Spaulding and Edna Bolden; three grandchildren, Rita Marie Lynn Brown, Destiny Graves and Evette Wright; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Brown of Lebanon; eight daughters, Dianne Boyd and Brenda Duncan, both of Bowling Green, Eva Thomas, Barbara Porter and Tevis Brown, all of Lebanon, Martina (Luis) Vargas of Florida, Bertha Lee Burrell (Dennis) of Indiana and Mary Frances Thompson (Alex) of Springfield; two sons, William Thomas Brown (Agnes) of Florida and Bishop Richard A. Brown (Betty) of Bowling Green; one sister, Clara B. Duckworth of Louisville; one brother, Sylvester Brown of Lebanon; 42 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at The United Methodist Church in Lebanon with burial in the St. Augustine Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at the Campbell-Fisher Funeral Home in Lebanon.
Pallbearers are Elder Boyce Groves, Danny Thompson, Kevin Smith, Charles Buckner, William Leslie Buckner, and Elder Harland Jewell. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Spaulding, Clarence Morrow Jr., James Jones and Curtis Jones.
The Campbell-Fisher Funeral Home in Lebanon is in charge of arrangements.
