Obituary: Lois W. Gray, 81, formerly of Vine Grove
Lois W. Gray, 81, of Bonita Springs, Fla., formerly of Vine Grove, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at Physicians Regional Medical Center Pine Ridge Road in Florida. She served as superintendent of Hardin County Schools from 1992-2002. Prior to serving as superintendent, she was principal at Fort Knox Community Schools. She served on the Western Kentucky University Board of Regents, serving as chairwoman from 2002-2004. She also served on the board of trustees at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Her full-time profession was education but she spent her life taking care of others. She loved her family and the children of Hardin County. In life she accomplished each goal she set for herself while always putting other people needs before her own.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Jones; and one brother, Frank “Bud” Watkins.
She is survived by her husband, David T. Gray of Bonita Springs, Fla.; two sons, Tom Gray (Dana) of Powder Springs, Ga., and Paul Gray (Jennifer) of Elizabethtown; and five grandchildren, David, Daniel, Abigail Paige and Kathryn.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at Stithton Baptist Church in Radcliff, the Rev. Tom Gray officiating. Burial is in North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home, 2072 South Dixie Boulevard, Radcliff.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Stithton Baptist Church.
