Obituary: Robert ‘Bob’ Peterson, 81, New Haven
Robert “Bob” Peterson, 81, of New Haven, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 29, 1936, in Loretto to the late John C. and Ursula Buckler Peterson. He was a retired farmer and former employee of Newcomb Oil Company in Bardstown. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Ritchie Peterson (2012); four sisters, Nell Brahm, Betty Hupman, Catherine Rogers and infant Ursula Peterson; four brothers, Cary Peterson, Jimmy Peterson, Bill Peterson and the Rev. Harry Peterson; one granddaughter, Amanda Peterson; one stepson, Curtis Anthony Lee Holt; and one stepgrandson, Isaac Lee Holt.
Survivors include one daughter, Lori Johnson of Florida; four sons, Bob Peterson (Anna) of Louisville, Kevin Peterson (Mindy) of Loretto, Chris Peterson and Eddie Peterson (Debbie), both of Louisville; two stepdaughters, Lorena Marie Holt of Louisville and Sarah Holbert (Kenny) of New Haven; two stepsons, Danny Holt and James Holt, both of Bardstown; one sister, Geraldine Peterson of Abingdon, Va.; two brothers, the Rev. George Peterson of Curico, Chile and the Rev. Gerald Peterson of Cincinnati; one sister-in-law, Mary Frances Peterson of Lexington; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, 174 N. Main St., New Haven. The Rev. Gerald Peterson and Christopher B. Lubecke will concelebrate. Burial is in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorial donations may go to American Legion Post 121, 206 W. Broadway, Bardstown, KY 40004 or the Nelson County Humane Society, 2391 New Haven Road, Bardstown, KY 40004.
Pallbearers are Kyle Peterson, Michael Peterson, Dylan Peterson, Nathan Shepherd, Steve Hutchins and Eric Queen.
The Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
