Obituary: Ruby Ann Shields Monroe, 67, Bardstown

Ruby Ann Shields Monroe, 67, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. She was born April 10, 1950, to the late Estel and Marietta Shields. She was retired from Kroger as a Deli/Bakery manager. She was a big volunteer for the St. Thomas Church Picnic and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donnie Shields, Billy Shields, Tony Shields, and Larry Shields; and one nephew, Dale Shields.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Shields and Alicia (Greg) Newton, both of Bardstown; four sisters, Anna Shields of Bardstown, Jeanie Fulkerson of Cox’s Creek, Sheila Johnson of Lebanon Junction, and Mary Beth Long of Mount Washington; three brothers, J.P. Shields of Lebanon Junction, and David Shields and Ricky Shields, both of Bardstown; and three grandchildren, Dalton Cecil, Greyson Newton and Ava Newton.

The funeral is 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, with the Rev. Jason Harris at the Houghlin Greenwell Funeral Home.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, is in charge of arrangements.
