Resident escapes injury Monday night after car crashes into bedroom

Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 — A Bardstown woman was injured Monday evening when the car she was driving northbound on KY 245 left the roadway near Handy Food Mart and struck a house.
According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Rebecca Colby, age unknown, was driving her 2014 Ford north Monday evening at about 7:22 p.m. when her car went off the left side of the road and struck the home at 4105 New Shepherdsville Road. The car crashed through the occupant’s bedroom wall, demolished a dresser, and left resident Lisa Martinez covered with debris from the dresser, the house and the car. She was not injured.
According to a press release, Colby was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. She told police she may have fallen asleep prior to the crash. She was treated at the scene by Nelson County EMS and then transported directly to University Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Police stated that alcohol was not believed to have been a factor in the accident.
