Obituary: Eugene Cheser, 87, Bloomfield
Eugene Cheser, 87, of Bloomfield, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, in the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville. He was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Washington County to the late Dewey and Nellie Hicks Cheser. He was a retired employee of the Kentucky Department of Transportation, a former police officer with the City of Bloomfield and Nelson County Police Department, veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and a member of the Wakefield Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Hahn Cheser; and a sister, Ruby Peavler Crume.
He is survived by his daughter, Koren (Roy) Gordon of Cox’s Creek; three sons, Gerald (Angie) Cheser of Shepherdsville, Leonard (Debbie) Cheser and Darryl (Margaret) Cheser, both of Bardstown; three sisters, Mary Evelyn Clopton of Louisville, Judy (Al) Dinardo of Florida, and Betty Lee (Gene) Stump of Bardstown; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Tom Sparrow officiating. Burial is in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Wakefield Baptist Church.
The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
