Obituary: Edith Wathen Miller, 94, Bardstown

Edith Wathen Miller, 94, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was born Sept. 30, 1923, in Fredericktown. She was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church. She and her husband were incredible ballroom dancers and she made her own gorgeous dancing dresses and other beautiful clothing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Miller; infant daughter, Janet Miller; her parents, Joseph and Gertrude Wathen; two sisters, Margie Hamilton and Virginia Edelen; and four brothers, Tony Wathen, Paul Wathen, Charlie Wathen, and Joe Wathen.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Hicks of Bardstown; one sister, Mary Breeden of Bardstown; one grandson, Andrew Hicks of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at St. Gregory Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Do officiating. Burial is in the Calvary Cemetery in Louisville.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, and 9-10:15 a.m. Friday at Barlow Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial contributions may go to Kosair Children’s Hospital.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
