Obituary: Arthur Yates, 82, formerly of Nelson County

Arthur Yates, 82, of Mount Eden, formerly of Nelson County, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at his home. He was born in Nelson County, the son of the late Marvin and Shirley B. Rogers Yates. He was a member and former deacon of the Briar Ridge Christian Church. He was a farmer and worked for more than 46 years at the Bourbon Stockyards. He enjoyed nature, and hunting, fishing, and woodworking were his favorite hobbies.

His survivors include his wife of more than 60 years, Juanita Yates of Mount Eden; one daughter, Beverly Jeffiers of Taylorsville; one son, Terry Yates (Jane) of Mount Eden; one sister, Barbara Hume of Mount Washington; one brother, Bobby Ray Yates of Taylorsville; four grandchildren, Jeremy Allen Jeffiers (Amanda), Jessica Ratterman (Mike), Elizabeth Bramer (Alex), and Jon Wesley Yates (Cassandra); and five great-grandchildren, Luke Allen Jeffiers, Lance Wyatt Jeffiers, Joseph Nate Bramer, Sadey Laine Ratterman, and Arthur Gabriel Yates.

At the request of Mr. Yates, cremation was chosen, and the family will hold a memorial service 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at the Briar Ridge Christian Church with the Rev. Jason Bradshaw officiating.

Visitation is noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Camp Calvary Christian Assembly.

The Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements.
