Obituary: Clyde Estridge Lee Ratliff, 84, formerly of Boston

CLYDE ESTRIDGE LEE RATLIFF

Clyde Estridge Lee Ratliff, 84, of Stuart, Va., formerly of Boston, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at the V.A. Medical Center in Salem, Va. He was born in Patrick County, Va., on May 8, 1933, to the late Dimon Lee Ratliff and Verna Etta Cassell Ratliff. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a retired construction superintendent.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Rose Kappel Ratliff; and one brother, Guy Ratliff.

He is survived by four daughters, Cindy Burton (Lloyd) of New Haven, Kaye Simpson (Harry) and Brenda Downs (Mike), both of Bardstown, and Vickie Mardis (Fred) of Lexington Township, Ind.; two sons, Terry Ratliff (Rhonda) of Ridgeway, Va., and Todd Ratliff of Bardstown; seven sisters, Alice Young and Mary Sigmon, both of Collinsville, Va., Barbara Holt, Geraldean Smith and Myrtle Smith, all of Bassett, Va., and Carol Martin and Dot Shough, both of Stuart, Va.; three brothers, Grady Ratliff of Bassett, Va., Coy Ratliff of Patrick Springs, Va., and Eddie Ratliff of Fieldale, Va.; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The local memorial service was 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction.

The Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction was in charge of local arrangements.
