Obituary: Vincent Ray Downs, 58, Bardstown

Vincent Ray Downs, 58, of Bardstown, died peacefully at home Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, surrounded by beloved family and friends. He was born in Bardstown Oct. 15, 1959, to Joseph Ray Downs and Jean Howard Downs. He lived a full and rich life filled with family, travel, time outdoors, and meaningful work in the building industry.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Downs.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Rose Ann Lucas Downs; three daughters, Abigail Grace “Abby” Downs, Rose Magdalene “Maggie” Downs, and Sophia Ann Downs; one son, Lucas Ray Downs; his mother, Jean Downs; two sisters, Virginia (D.L.) Chowning and Mary (Dennis) Carey; three brothers, Joe Paul (Sharon) Downs, Jimmy (Margie) Downs, and Tommy (Mary Ann) Downs; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A celebration of his life Mass is 11 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church in Samuels.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Barlow Funeral Home, and 9-11 a.m. Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory to Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, P.O. Box 130, Clermont, Kentucky 40110.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
