Nelson County Schools considering 20 superintendent applications

NC GAZETTE / WBRT RADIO
STAFF REPORT

Tuesday, March 6, 2018 — The Nelson County Schools superintendent search committee has received 20 applications for superintendent.

Owen Saylor, the representative of the Kentucky Association of School Administrators who is assisting the district with the superintendent search, said eight of the 20 applicants are currently serving as school superintendents. Two of those are from out of state, he said.

“The number and quality of applicants speaks to the level of interest in Nelson County Schools and should provide excellent options for the Board to consider,” Saylor said.

The superintendent search timeline calls for the Nelson County Screening Committee to present their recommended slate of finalists to the school board later this month and for the board to release the names of the finalist soon after they have been finalized.

The next board meeting is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the district Central Office on Wildcat Lane.
