Obituary: Ada Beatrix Greathouse, 73, Bardstown
Ada Beatrix Greathouse, 73, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 18, 1944, in Cox’s Creek to the late Joseph Alexander and Ada Mae Davis Hamilton II. She graduated of Magna Cum Laude from Bethlehem High School. She was a former employee of Town and Country Bank, a former nurses assistant for Dr. Emmett Wood, activity director at Bardstown Health & Rehab, assistant activity director at Signature Healthcare at Colonial, and a member of St. Monica Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, William “Pete” Hayes; two sisters, Bernice Hamilton and Patsy Greathouse; and four brothers, Raymond Hamilton, Joseph A. Hamilton and Michael Hamilton, and William “Brother” Hayes.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Greathouse; two daughters, Bernadette “Ayesha” Dwan (Tariq Umer) Tariq Umer of Bardstown and Carlotta Starr Greathouse “Marissa Caraballo” of Louisville; one son, Wesley Todd (Kimberly) Greathouse of Louisville; four sisters, Sherry Ann (Elmer) Copeland, Mary C. (Charles Raymond) Hays and Jane Page, all of Bardstown, and Theresa (Dave) Greathouse of Louisville; eight grandchildren, Skye (Devata Weiss) Greathouse, Donovan Wiemold, Sieanna Phillips, Adalina Olague, Zaniab Shah, Shumailah Tariq Umer, and Olivia Greathouse; four great-grandchildren, Katalina White, Devata Weiss Jr., Da’Yanah Weiss, and Da’Veah Weiss; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her home going service is 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Deacon Scott Turner officiating. Burial is in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation is 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to the American Cancer Society.
