New Hope resident enters 1st District race for magistrate as an independent

Wednesday, March 14, 2018 — David L. Reed, of J.T. Riggs Road in the New Hope community, has filed his intention to run as an independent candidate for magistrate in the county’s 1st District on Nelson Fiscal Court.

The 1st District covers the southernmost portions of Nelson County. Keith Metcalfe currently serves as magistrate of the 1st District.

On his Facebook candidate page, Reed announced that he would wait to see if a viable Republican entered the race for 1st District magistrate before he entered the race as an independent candidate.

“If they do not have a viable candidate I will be jumping in soon after the primary elections are over,” he posted on his Facebook page last fall. “We do not need a one person race.”
