WBRT bringing Texaco Country Showdown to amphitheatre Monday night

Thursday, June 9, 2011 5 p.m. – Cooler summer temperatures and clear skies are anticipated Monday evening when the 30th Annual Texaco Country Showdown comes to the J. Dan Talbott Amphitheatre courtesy of 1320 WBRT.
This free event begins at 7 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2011. The Showdown has the highest attendance of any event at the amphitheatre as musicians and singers take the stage to compete for a chance at a $100,000 Grand Prize.
The Showdown is America’s largest country music talent search and radio promotion. Local sponsors include McCoy & Sparks Attorneys at Law; Subway; Clark Distributing; Kentucky Home Bank; Livers Body Shop and Truck Stop; Russell’s Furniture and Mattress; and Franks Heating and Air Conditioning.
Seventeen local acts will compete Monday night for the opportunity to perform at the Kentucky State Texaco Country Showdown. State winners vie for a $1,000 cash prize and will advance to a regional competition in the fall. The five regional winners are awarded an all-expense paid trip to the National Final where they will compete for the $100,000 Grand Prize and the National Title. All 17 contestants are from Kentucky and within WBRT’s coverage area.
The Texaco Country Showdown gives aspiring country music artists in America a chance to launch their professional careers. Audiences may be seeing, hearing, and applauding the next country music star. Come out and support our local talent and cheer your favorite on to the Kentucky State Texaco Showdown.
