Obituary: Dorothy Mae Meyer, 89, Cox’s Creek

Dorothy Mae Meyer, 89, of Cox’s Creek, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at her residence. She was born Sept. 5, 1928, in Nelson County to the late Augustus “Gus” and Mamie Snellen Coomes. She was a farmer, homemaker, and a member of Thixton Lane Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Meyer; one sister, Hazel Bowman; and two brothers, Elwood Coomes and Preston Coomes.

She is survived by three daughters, Martha (Carl) Morrow of Bardstown, Roberta (David Young) Meyer of Brooks, and Elizabeth Henderson of Elizabethtown; one son, Charles Richard (Mary Jo) Meyer of Bardstown; four sisters, Helen Shain, Barbara (Austin) Weller, Glenda (Allen Ray) Magruder, Mildred Milligan, all of Cox’s Creek; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, with Bro. Jonathan Gann officiating. Burial is in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
