Obituary: James Jackson Montgomery, 81, Cox’s Creek

JAMES JACKSON MONTGOMERY

James Jackson Montgomery, 81, of Cox’s Creek, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at his residence. He was born July 6, 1936, in Upshur County, West Va., to the late Carlton E. “Doc” and Willard “Woody” Jackson Montgomery. In 1954 he graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. He attended West Virginia Wesleyn College in Buckhannon, West Va., and was later a manager for the Grove Park Inn.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Beverly Hedgespeth Montgomery; three daughters, Pamela Montgomery (John) Debelak, Traci Montgomery Fitzwater Jones, and Susan Montgomery Fitzwater; one son, Michael Warren Montgomery; two step-daughters, Rebecca (Billy Joe) Floyd and Susan Marie Mayes; one brother, C. Warren (Carol) Montgomery; 12 grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.

The family followed his wishes of cremation with no public services.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road is in charge of arrangements.
