Obituary: Elizabeth Cordelia Martin, 101, Taylorsville
Elizabeth Cordelia Martin, 101, of Taylorsville, died Sunday, April 1, 2018, in Signature Healthcare of Spencer County. She was born Nov. 1, 1916, in Nelson County to the late Felix and Margaret Simms Ball. She was a retired school teacher in Spencer County where she taught third-grade for 27 years. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond T. Martin; and two granddaughter’s, Stacey Martin and Melanie Martin.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann Lindle (Mike) Simpson of Taylorsville; five sons, James Theodore “Jim” (Beverly Kaye) Martin of Sulphur, La., Jerry (Janie) Martin and Bud (Cheryl) Martin, both of San Antonio, Texas, Steve (Susan) Martin of Taylorsville, and Bill (Therese) Martin of Waddy; two sisters, Anna Rita Pemberton of Louisville and Winifred (Paul) Drnec of California; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018, at All Saints Catholic Church in Taylorsville with the Rev. Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial is in the Valley Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville with a prayer service Thursday evening.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements.
