Local Democrats to celebrate party’s 222nd birthday at April 20 celebration

Thursday, April 5, 2018 — The public is invited to join Nelson County Democrats in the celebration of 222nd birthday of the Democratic Party.
The event — which includes a meet-and-greet event followed by dinner — is set for Friday, April 20, 2018, at the Maywood Country Club. The meet-and-greet begins 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m.
The keynote speaker is Colmon Elridge, a noted dynamic motivational speaker who is a former executive assistant and senior advisor to Gov. Steve Beshear.
In 2014, Elridge was named one of the 10 Outstanding Young Men by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Ben Self, the Kentucky Democratic Party chairman, will also attend the event.
Tickets are $45 per person in advance, $50 at the door, with $25 per person for members of the Young Democrats Club.
ABOUT COLMAN ELRIDGE. Colmon Elridge currently serves as the Global Vice President of Membership and Development for the International Coach Federation, the world’s largest membership organization and credentialing agency for professionally trained Executive, Life, and Corporate coaches.
Colmon, 35, served nearly eight years as the executive assistant and senior advisor to Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear and helped transform Kentucky’s education, health access, and business climate after the worst economic recession since the Great Depression.
Colmon is from Cynthia and is a graduate of Transylvania University (BA) and purses both his MPA at Eastern Kentucky University, an MBA at Sullivan University and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands.
Colmon, his wife Victoria, and their sons Colmon, Carter, and Camden live in Georgetown.
