Thursday, April 12, 2018, 3 p.m. — Firefighters from several local fire departments are currently fighting an out-of-control brush fire in the area of North Hurricane Hills in the Boston area. Hurricane Hills is located off Masden Road north of the Boston Jim Beam plant.

At 1:26 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the Boston Fire Department was dispatched to the scene, along with the Lebanon Junction Fire Department. A Nelson County EMS ambulance was dispatched for standby about an hour later, and at 2:50 p.m., additional help was requested from the Nelson County Fire Department, New Hope Fire and New Haven/Rolling Fork fire departments in the form of tools and additional manpower.

Firefighters are also working under a Red Flag Warning issued early Thursday by the National Weather Service.

A Red Flag Warning means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe fire behavior due to high winds today, along with low humidity.

Firefighters remain on the scene. If traveling in the Boston area, be aware of the possibility of the presence of emergency vehicles.
