Obituary: Steve Allender, 56, Bardstown

Steve Allender, 56, of Bardstown, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, after a hard fight with cancer. He was born Jan. 5, 1962, in Bardstown and was an employee of Humana. He coached basketball for many years, served as a Fifth Region official in Basketball and Volleyball, was an avid golfer, gardener, grill master, and comedian. He was a dedicated Kentucky Wildcat fan and a member of St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond L. Allender.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Barb Allender; one daughter, Nicole Allender of Louisville; one son, Zach Allender of Bardstown; his mother, Catherine Livers Allender of Bardstown; one brother, Kenneth Dale (Stephanie) Allender and their two children, Mitchell and Kennedy; two grandchildren, Payton and Eli; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Peter Do officiating.

Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2018, and 9-10:15 a.m. Monday at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
