Obituary: Dorothy Rita Bryan Morris, 91, New Haven

Dorothy Rita Bryan Morris, 91, of New Haven, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born Feb. 26, 1927, to the late Jack and Theresa Culver Bryan in New Haven. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven, She worked for 17 years for the Nelson County Board of Education at the New Haven Public Schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank Morris; one son, Jimmy Morris; one son-in-law John “Fox” Clark; five sisters, Thelma Cecil, Leona Metcalf, Elnora Culver, Virginia Vittitow, Corine Culver; and six brothers, Eugene Bryan, Buster Bryan, Norrie Bryan, Bucky Bryan, Piggy Bryan and Steven Bryan.

She is survived by three daughters, Theresa “Sissy” Clark of Lyons Station, Kathy (Ricky) Miles of New Haven, and Martha Rose (Lex) Martin of Bloomfield; seven sons, Billy Morris and Mike (JoAnn) Morris, both of New Haven, Frank (Laurie) Morris and Bobby (Debbie) Morris, both of Bardstown, T.C. (Donna) Morris and Ray (Lisa) Morris, both of Lyons Station, and Joe (Pat) Morris of Louisville; one daughter in-law, Veronica Morris of New Haven; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Chris Lubecke and the Rev. Scott Wimsett officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2018, with a 4 p.m. prayer service, and 8:30-11 a.m. Monday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
