Obituary: Peggy Sallee Curtsinger-Hood, 76, Springfield

Peggy Sallee Curtsinger-Hood, 76, of Springfield, died at 1:02 p.m., Monday, April 16, 2018, at University Hospital. She was a native of Washington County, born on March 16, 1942, to the late John Ernest and Eva Cornish Sallee. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and also enjoyed attending the Willisburg Church Of God. She was a graduate of Transylvania University and was a retired teacher having taught language arts at Washington County Middle School for 27 years.

Survivors include her special friend, Carl Burgen of Springfield; three daughters, Kyrstal Still of Foster, Cathy Keeling (Buddy) and Regena Johnson (Duane), both of Springfield; three sons, James D. Curtsinger of Mattoon, Ill., Eules M. Hood Jr. (Carolyn Russell) of Beverly, Mass. and Tim Curtsinger (Emily) of Bloomfield; two stepchildren, Mike Hood (Stephanie) of Lawrenceburg and Sheila Rowe of Versailles; three sisters, Anna Sallee and Eva Marie Sallee, both of Lebanon, and Ina Gribbins of Campbellsville; two brothers, Bill Sallee and Mark Sallee, both of Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. John McDaniel officiating with the Rev. Cal Adams assisting. Burial is in the High View Cemetery at Chaplin.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Robin Hood, Mark Sallee and Bill Sallee.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jamie Curtsinger, Tim Curtsinger, D.J. Keeling, Duane Johnson, Ron Burgen and Travis Prewitt.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the funeral home.

The Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
