Obituary: William ‘Bill’ Marquess, 73, Fairfield

William “Bill” Marquess, 73, of Fairfield, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, at his residence. He was born March 29, 1945, in Louisville. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam and former mayor of Fairfield. He was retired from Pepsi Co.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Rogan Walls; his parents, Ben and Dorothy Marquess; one sister, Drucilla Eichenberger; and one brother, Ben Marquess Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Rogan Marquess of Fairfield; two daughters, Martina Amshoff of Bardstown and Ellen (Pat) McCauley of Boston; two sons, Alex Marquess and Gavin B. (Amy) Walls, both of Bardstown; two sisters, Jackie McNabb and Rosie Roberts, both of Florida; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in St. Michael Cemetery in Fairfield with the Rev. Eldon Morgan officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018, and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to Humane Society of Nelson County.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
