Sheriff’s office identifies suspects in New Haven Tuesday morning armed robbery

Thursday, April 26, 2018 — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office has identified two suspects in an armed robbery that took place early Tuesday morning at a home on Center Street in New Haven.

The suspects were identified through the assistance of tips received via social media and the efforts of Detective Jamie Ferrie.

Douglas J. Blanton, 19, of Elizabethtown has been charged with attempted murder and first-degree robbery for his role in the crime. The second suspect, William F. Hume, 20, of Louisville had not yet been charged at the time of the sheriff’s office press release was issued.

Deputies with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence on Center Street in New Have for a reported armed robbery at about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Three people were in the home with two suspects broke into the home carrying long guns. The two suspect took money and other items, including a game console, from the victims. Both suspects were wearing masks; one of the masks was a clown mask.

Before the suspects left, one of them fired a shot inside the home. The suspects left the area in a vehicle of unknown description.
