Thursday, May 3, 2018 — Thomas Nelson Assistant Principal Courtney H. Newton has been appointed interim principal for TNHS during the search process for a new principal. Former principal Wes Bradley has already begun his tenure as superintendent for the Nelson County Schools system.
A Thomas Nelson educator since the school first opened, Newton has earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Columbia University (New York) and a Masters in Secondary Education from Western Governor’s University (Salt Lake City), after receiving an undergraduate degree in Political Science at Saint Martin’s University (Lacey, Wash.).
Originally from Louisville, Newton has lived in Nelson County for seven years.
“I am committed to this community. Upon moving to Nelson County, one of the first things I noticed was the people of this county truly care for one another,” Newton said.
Bradley has recused himself from the search process for a new principal, and has appointed former Interim Superintendent Tom Brown to be his designee to serve with the TNHS site based council during the search.
The search process has started and the hope is to name a new principal by the end of May, Brown said, as he outlined a tentative timeline for the process.
