Obituary: Joseph L. ‘Red’ Clark, 87, of Bardstown

Joseph L. “Red” Clark, 87, of Bardstown, formerly of Louisville, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Bardstown Health Center in Bardstown. He was raised in New Hope and was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church from 1951 to 1998 before moving to Bardstown and joining St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in the Samuels area.

He was owner and operator of the J.L. Clark Construction Co. He worked at American Standard from 1952-53 and also the Al Scheider Co. before branching out on his own as a homebuilder having a long career. He was born Dec. 19, 1930, and was the son of the late Albert and Rose Masterson Clark.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia “Pat” Clark; one daughter, Marie Rita Clark; and four sons, Terry Clark, David Clark, Wayne Clark, and Kenneth Clark.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen (Keith) Culver of Cox’s Creek and Angela Jeffries of Bardstown; one son, Larry (Karen) Clark of Bardstown; nine grandchildren, Terri Lynn Deweese, Andrew Clark, Kane Clark, Zach Clark, Kaylleigh Clark, Kyle Culver, Blake Culver, Sam Jeffries and Jessica Jeffries; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Samuels with the Rev. Peter Do officiating.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018, and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St. in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
